Our Community

Working with Our Community Big Sky is highly active in the communities it services around Australia, whether regional or employer based. This ongoing commitment is best illustrated by the establishment of the Community Foundations in Moranbah (QLD), Hedland (WA) and Roxby Downs (SA). 10% of after tax profit from the local Service Centres are put back into the communities via grants for a wide range of areas including: Financial Literacy, Conservation, Environment and Heritage, Cultural Development and the Arts, Health and Welfare (all ages), Community Infrastructure as well as Sport and Education. Prior to becoming part of Big Sky, MeritPlan's Brisbane office has been involved in a national strategy to improve Australians’ understanding of money matters. The Financial Literacy Foundation Program wants Australians to be able to make more informed financial decisions and better manage their money. MeritPlan assisted by taking the program to schools in Brisbane and donating $1,000 to help support the college’s voluntary work in Thailand, which sees students and teachers travel to Kon Kan province to work in a mission school each year.
